If King Arthur actually existed many historians place him as a war leader seeking to halt the invasion of the Saxons after the fall of Rome. There are many indications that England did, after a time of much strife, have a brief period of peace and prosperity in what is now called the "Dark Ages".

This sword is of a type that was widely in use during this period and would be what a hard-fighting warrior would prefer. Nicely balanced, well-tempered high carbon steel blade offset with antiqued brass parts.

A transition from the Viking sword to the classic medieval sword, our medieval sword is probably Oakeshott type X. Swords like this one were very popular for centuries.

The double-edged, hardly tapered blade has a long, relatively wide fuller which makes it balance very well. The curved, flared crossguard provides lots of protection for your hand. The Henry V Sword is modelled after the sword hung over the tomb of one of England’s great warrior kings. The single-handed cut-and-thrust weapon combines a relatively short sturdy blade with elegant down-swept quillons and a wheel pommel.

The best metalsmiths from Windlass Steelcrafts have spent hours on each blade, hand forging the high carbon steel for optimal balance, quickness and durability. This medieval Acre Crusader Broadsword from Windlass Steelcrafts Battlecry collection is a formidable weapon of proven worth. This classic knightly sword was an idea for sword and shield or sword and buckler combat whether on foot or horseback. The Acre crusader sword is a stout and fearsome blade that takes advantage of its heft, width, and centre and gravity to deliver deadly slashing cuts and hacking blows as well as thrusts.

With a wide cross-guard of over 8" it's no sword for the soft hearted or weak-spirited. Its practical cruciform hilt with single-hand grip and disc pommel was to be the functional model for countless other sword styles to follow.

The blade finish is far from being polished agian more closley replicating what the medieval swordsmith was able to achieve. Except as noted the grips are leather covered hardwood. Fittings are either steel or solid brass. These swords will appeal to the re-enactor who wants a sword with the same appearance as the originals.

The River Witham Sword was dredged from the River Witham near the town of Lincoln during work carried out in 1788. The sword may be a remnant of the Battle of Lincoln in 1141, but it is more likely that it was made between 1250-1300 CE. The inscription on the blade reads: +NDXOXCHMDRCHDXORVI+.

Our original Robin Hood sword is the licensed replica from "Robin Hood," the Universal Pictures movie directed by Ridley Scott. Made of hand forged carbon steel, this licensed Robin Hood sword is just like the sword in the movie – down to the smallest detail.

The unusual hilt is a very special eye-catcher. The hardwood grip is set with decorative turquoise cabochons and the steel has been treated to look old. The inscription made famous in the movie is engraved on the steel surfaces at the sides: "Rise and rise again" or "Until lambs become lions." The octagonal pommel is riveted and decorated with the cross pattée favoured by crusaders. Our original Robin Hood sword includes a decorative shield with the Loxley family coat of arms that you can hang on the wall and use to display the sword.
