Roman Reenactment Kit
Our Roman Re-enactment section features historical replicas from brands such as Deepeeka and Windlass Steelcrafts and provide a good balance between authenticity and affordability. Roman Re-enactment tends to be focussed more on historical accuracy than large pitched battles, and as such, the protective levels of armour and safety requirements for weapons tends to be less stringent that that required for Viking or Medieval Re-enactment. As such, Roman helmets and armour are generally made from 18 gauge steel. The swords in this section are either Living History grade replicas that can be sharpened or feature blunt blades suitable for light combat use.

The gladius was the sword of choice for the Roman legions, and many gladiators also chose to use the double-edged sword when they were fighting for their freedom and lives in the Colosseum. After a gladiator in ancient Rome had won his freedom, he was awarded a wooden gladius like this one, called a Rudis, as a symbol of his freedom. Roman Pugio Dagger - 2nd Century
The distinct shape of the Roman Pugio dagger blade was excellent for close quarters fighting, and was used throughout the legions. Although swords and knives were generally not worn by Roman civilians within the boundaries of the "Pax Romana", barbarians and bandits were certainly to be found in the outlands, and a merchant or trader best go armed. No doubt many an old legionnaire must have found it easier to keep his balance with the familiar weight on his hip as he worked his farm in new won territory.
